Atunci când serialele dobândesc o popularitate imensă în rândul telespectatorilor, acest lucru este datorat în mare parte actorilor principali, însă dramele noastre favorite nu ar exista fără scriitorii care le-au creat. Aceștia scriu povești în care portretizează personajele, decid cum decurge firul narativ și oferă cele mai bune replici care vor stârni emoții și sentimente în sufletele spectatorilor.

Ei sunt principalul motiv pentru care povestea poate fi atât de distractivă și dorită și de aceea există și așa zisele clișee. De asemenea, portretizează în moduri unice genuri care nu sunt foarte populare și aduc răsturnări de situație unor aparente clișee. În timp ce își fac munca grea în spatele camerelor, este de necontestat că scriitorii contribuie la succesul unei drame, indiferent de actorii din distribuție.

Câteodată, spectatorii care au fost impresionați de o dramă caută scenaristul din spatele acesteia, ca mai apoi să se uite și la alte lucrări. Fanii „veterani” realizează că scriitorii dețin un anumit concept în crearea dramelor, unii concentrându-se pe drame melodramatice, iar alții pe drame în genul fantastic.
